PROM TEXT MESSAGING INITIATIVE is an exciting, new anti-underage drinking initiative during the coming high school Prom season.

The initiative is designed to deliver a "safe prom" message via text messaging between parents and teens. Teens are texting each other non-stop - what better way to deliver to them a strong, unambiguous message from their parents? The deliver of a "do not drink" message via text messaging allows us to control the timing of the message: It will arrive on the day of his or her prom.

How it will work

Parents will be encouraged to log onto www.centurycouncil.org/promtext to sign their teens up to receive a FREE "safe prom" text message on prom night.

Upon visiting the website the parent will have the opportunity to enter limited information (cell number, prom date, and zip code) that will allow the child to receive a text message/reminder to stay alcohol free on prom night.
